The Holy Family Ex-Students’ Association invites schools i.e. students (Standard 8 to 10th) to participate in their 19th interschool event -  Interschool Quiz contest scheduled on Sunday 3rd December’2023 8.30 am onwards.
 

The quiz contest will be a unique and engaging opportunity for students to showcase their knowledge. The format of the contest is designed to be both entertaining & intellectually stimulating. The participants will be shown motivational videos that will serve as the basis for the subsequent general knowledge quiz questions.
 

We believe that events like these contribute significantly to the overall development of students by fostering teamwork, enhancing general knowledge, and promoting a spirit of healthy competition. Moreover, it provides an excellent platform for students to interact with their peers from other schools, thereby broadening their horizons.
 

We are confident that the students will not only enjoy the quiz contest but also find it to be a valuable and enriching experience.

We strongly recommend the appointed teacher accompanies the contingent so as to ensure an optimal experience and learning for the participating students.

Guidelines of the Quiz Contest 

  1. Participation: Each school must nominate 1 team of 4 students to participate in the competition; Students should be from either 8th , 9th, or 10th Std. A team’s entry may be considered void if the teacher-in-charge isn’t present with the contingent at the competition.

  2. Venue: Holy Family High School Secondary Hall, Mahakali Caved Rd, Andheri East

  3. Timing: Sunday, December 3rd, 2023; Reporting: 8.30 a.m.

  4. Topic: Quiz contest – General Knowledge. Motivational videos will be played; based on it GK questions will be asked. Sample video & questions mentioned above.   

  5. Language: Quiz contest will be hosted in English. Motivational videos shall be either in English or Hindi.

  6. Attire: Participants must be dressed in their school uniforms.

  7. Prizes: The Winning,  Runners-up & 3rd place teams will be awarded – individual mini trophy for each team member. The winning school will be awarded the “Holy Family Ex-Students’ Rolling Trophy”. All participants will be awarded certificates.

  8. Audience: Each school may send 5 students and 1 additional teacher-in-charge to witness the contest and cheer the participants. Audience members must also be in school uniform. Parents are welcome. Audience will  have opportunities to answer quiz questions.

  9. Spot Prizes: Audience may win prizes for answering quiz questions.

  10. Nibbles: Light refreshments will be served to all in attendance.

​FORMAT AND RULES OF THE QUIZ CONTEST

  1. Maximum 16 teams will be permitted for the quiz contest.

  2. Based on the number of participating teams; teams will be distributed in sessions.

  3. In a session, maximum 8 teams will be involved to compete amongst themselves.

  4. At the start of each session, chit draws will be conducted for each team to identify their team number.

  5. If there are 8 or less than 8 participating teams; only 1 session will be conducted which will be considered as the final session.

  6. If there are more than 8 participating teams; 2 league sessions will be conducted. From each session, top 3 teams will qualify to the final session.

  7. In the final session, top 3 teams based on points will be decided as winners.

  8. Points from earlier sessions will not be carried forward to the final session.

  9. In each session; league or final session;

    1. 3 motivational videos will be played; followed by quiz questions.

    2. A motivational video of approx. 3 minutes will be played. Based on the motivational video; quiz questions will be asked.

    3. After each motivational video 8 questions will be asked to the participating teams & 2 questions will be asked to the audience to win spot prizes.

    4. Each question will be displayed on the projector along with 10 options for correct answer. Out of 10 options; only 1 option will be the correct answer.

    5. The 8 questions to the participants; will be divided in 2 rounds:

First round - Non-Buzzer Round: 

  1. Question will be asked to a specific team for 40 points; starting with Team 1 & so on. 30 seconds to answer the question.

  2. If the specific team is unable to provide the correct answer; question will be passed to the subsequent Team for 30 points i.e., Team 2 & so on.

  3. If the team is unable to provide the correct answer; question will be passed for the 3rd & final time to the subsequent Team for 20 points.

  4. If the question is passed for 3 times by participating teams; the question will be passed to the audience for spot prize.

  5. No points will be deducted for wrong answers. There is no buzzer in this round.

Second round - Buzzer Round:

  1. Question will be asked, open to all participating teams in the session.

  2. Team that presses the buzzer first; will get an opportunity to answer the question for 40 points.

  3. After pressing the buzzer if the team is unable to provide the correct answer; 10 points will be deducted for wrong answer & will be locked out of buzzer for this question. Other teams will now have the option to buzzer in to answer. 

  4. This time the team that presses the buzzer first; will get an opportunity to answer the question for 30 points.

  5. After pressing the buzzer if the team is unable to provide the correct answer; 10 points will be deducted for wrong answer & will be locked out of buzzer for this question. Other teams will now have the option to buzzer in to answer.

  6. This time the team that presses the buzzer first; will get an opportunity to answer the question for 20 points.

  7. After pressing the buzzer if the team is unable to provide the correct answer; 10 points will be deducted for wrong answer. As the question has been buzzed in 3 times; the question will now be passed to the audience for spot prize.

Tie Breaker: If there is a tie on points between teams to qualify for next session or to decide the winner; one additional question will be asked. The first team to buzz in and answer correctly wins. If a team buzzes in and answers incorrectly, the question is then posed to the other team. If neither team gives a correct answer, the host moves on to another question. This continues until a correct answer is given and one team is declared the winner. There are no point deductions for wrong answers.
